What to Expect When You Rent a Lake Tahoe Party Boat

When you rent a pontoon boat on Lake Tahoe, you are in control of the itinerary. All groups depart from Tahoe Keys Marina in South Lake Tahoe, but after that, the adventure is up to you!

Some groups choose to explore historic sites, swim in crystal blue water, and watch the sunset. Others simply let our qualified captains take the wheel so they can enjoy a relaxing time with family and friends.

Daytime Lake Tahoe pontoon boat charters include use of our large roll-out floating mat – lily pad.

You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages on board utilizing our cooler at no additional cost. Local catering can be arranged separately, and alcohol must be consumed legally and responsibly. Cooking and grilling are not permitted onboard.

Feel free to use our on-board Bluetooth stereo and play your own music. We love a curated playlist!

Our Lake Tahoe Party Boat includes a standing-height onboard bathroom for your guests’ convenience. Life jackets and all required safety equipment will be onboard.

Cruise Lake Tahoe with an Experienced Local Captain

When you charter a party boat on Lake Tahoe, you won’t be on the water alone. You’ll sail with an approved U.S. Coast Guard-licensed Master Captain who knows Lake Tahoe’s waters well. Every captain must hold a valid Merchant Mariner Credential, participate in a U.S. Coast Guard-approved drug and alcohol testing program, and maintain CPR and first-aid certification.

Your captain will help shape the route around your group and recommend any scenic stops they think you’ll love. More importantly, they will manage the practical details that come with bringing a large party onto the lake. With a captain at the wheel, you can settle in with your guests rather than assigning someone to navigate, dock, or keep track of conditions. Your only job is to enjoy the party!

Frequently Asked Questions About Lake Tahoe Party Boat Charters

How many people can the Lake Tahoe party boat hold?

The Vivid Dreams, our 40-foot Lake Tahoe party boat, can accommodate private groups of up to 35 passengers. Every guest counts toward the passenger total, including infants and young children. Your group size may also affect available charter times and booking details, so provide an accurate headcount when reserving your trip.

Is the pontoon boat rental in Lake Tahoe private or shared?

Every Tahoe Boat Rides charter is private, so your group has the entire pontoon boat to itself. We do not combine unrelated groups or sell individual tickets. This gives you more control over the atmosphere, activities, and pace of your time on the lake.

Can we rent a pontoon boat in Lake Tahoe and drive it ourselves?

No. Tahoe Boat Rides provides private captained charters rather than self-drive rentals. An approved U.S. Coast Guard-licensed Master Captain operates the boat and manages navigation, lake conditions, and safety throughout your trip. Required captains must also hold a valid Merchant Mariner Credential, participate in an approved drug and alcohol testing program, and maintain CPR and first-aid certification.

What amenities are included on the party boat in South Lake Tahoe?

Vivid Dreams includes a standing-height bathroom, a large cooler, a Bluetooth stereo, life jackets, and required safety equipment. Two floating mats are also available for guests to use when the boat is anchored. Download your playlist before departure because cellular service can be unreliable on the lake.

Can we bring food and alcohol on the Lake Tahoe party boat?

Yes. You may bring your own food and beverages, including alcohol for guests who can consume it legally and responsibly. A large cooler is available onboard, and you may bring additional soft-sided coolers when needed. Cooking and grilling are not permitted on the boat, so choose food that can be served cold or prepared before departure.

Can we swim or do watersports from the pontoon rental in Lake Tahoe?

You can stop for swimming and use the included floating mats when Vivid Dreams is safely anchored. The party boat cannot tow tubes, waterskiers, or wakeboarders. Groups interested in towable watersports should reserve a powerboat charter instead.
